Abstract expressionist virtuoso Mark Rothko has been commissioned to paint a series of murals for New York's new Four Seasons Restaurant. He and his assistant, Ken, embark on a journey to complete the commissioned works, but along the way are forced to explore what it means to be an artist and the effect of time and change on artistic virtue and relevance. John Logan's Tony-award winning play, "Red", explores a moment in the life of the painter, Mark Rothko, as he battles for his vision and is forced to come to terms with the passing tide of artistic evolution.
In August of 2015, Hub Theatre Group performed "Red" starring Bob Chanda as Mark Rothko and Chris Kiley as Ken, directed by award-winning Broadway actor and director, Prof. Dean Nolen, winner of the prestigious Drama Desk Award.
